Kong Jie Isn't "Nothing": Emptying the Old Makes Room for the New

Di Kong and Di Jie are often misunderstood as financial loss, but their essence is "emptying" — out with the old, in with the new. Used well they're inspiration and breakthrough; used poorly they're loss.

Di Kong and Di Jie are the most "mystical" of the six malefics. Qing Yang/Tuo Luo are at least "metal," tangible; Huo/Ling are "fire," traceable. What is Kong Jie? "Emptiness" — nothing. Many see it and think "I'm ruined, I'll lose money." But consider: an empty cup can hold water; an empty room can fit new furniture. Kong Jie doesn't "take things away" — it "helps you clear what you don't need."

Kong Jie's essence is "breaking from convention" and "inspiration." Di Kong偏向 "spiritual emptiness" — inspiration, philosophy, religion; Di Jie偏向 "material emptiness" — financial loss, change, break-and-build. Both relate to "loss," but what's lost isn't always good — sometimes Kong Jie empties "fixations," "bad habits," "unsuitable relationships."

The Positive Side of Kong Jie

Strong inspiration — Di Kong people have sharp intuition, suited to art, creation, philosophy.

Unconventional thinking — Kong Jie people think laterally, see what others don't.

Break and build — Di Jie people suit entrepreneurship and reform, unafraid to lose the old.

Detached from material — Kong Jie people don't cling to money, less trapped by it.

Suited to mysticism — Kong Jie plus Tian Wu/Hua Gai: affinity with divination, feng shui, practice.

Why Kong Jie Scares People

Financial loss — Di Jie in Wealth does mean easy loss, but it may be "money you shouldn't have earned."

Change — Kong Jie in Career means frequent job changes, but each may be an upgrade.

Relationship turbulence — Kong Jie in Spouse may mean unstable marriage, but also "emptying the wrong person."

Impractical — Kong Jie people have many ideas but poor implementation; need Hua Quan or Hua Lu to "solidify."

Kong Jie plus Hua Quan — execute breakthrough ideas.

Kong Jie plus Chang/Qu — literary talent, suited to writing and academia.

Kong Jie in Fortune — rich inner world, suited to practice and philosophy.

Reading Order

When you see Kong Jie:

  2. Which palace — where does the "emptying" happen.
  3. Check Hua Lu/Hua Quan — they make inspiration land.
  4. Check malefics — malefics plus Kong Jie make loss more sudden.
  5. Don't fear Kong Jie — emptiness is "starting over," not "ending."
  6. Is what you recently "lost" actually something you didn't need?
