The first few paid orders can make a side business feel ready for a full-time leap. Yet those sales may depend on an employer's reputation, old coworkers, free equipment, or the security of a regular paycheck. The important question is not whether the side business has made money once. It is whether the income can continue after the original platform disappears.
Zi Wei Dou Shu separates personal earning ability from workplace authority and access to outside customers. The Wealth Palace describes how money is earned, the Career Palace shows what the current organization lets you control, and the Travel Palace covers opportunities beyond familiar networks. Timing matters only after those three parts work together.
Find Out Whose Resources Produced the Sale
Authority in the Career Palace may let someone lead a team, approve spending, or use a respected company name. In Zi Wei Dou Shu, this is called Hua Quan, a transformation associated with responsibility and control. It can build valuable experience, but it does not make the employer's clients, data, or reputation personal property.
Review the last twenty orders and note how each customer found you, why they bought, and whether they would still buy after you left the job. If the skill is portable but the customer channel is not, keep testing. A resignation should not be the first experiment in customer independence.
Turn Expertise Into a Repeatable Offer
The Wealth Palace is the income mechanism. Hua Ke means recognized expertise: knowledge, credentials, craft, or work that people can identify and pay for. Wen Qu adds communication or creative skill, while Tian Yue can represent access to higher standards or helpful professional connections. The everyday proof is a clear offer, stable pricing, and reliable delivery.
Example 1: Recognized expertise in the Wealth Palace, shown by Wen Qu transformed into Hua Ke with Tian Yue, can support paid consulting, design, or teaching when customers also arrive from outside the person's usual circle. Six months of repeat business and normal collections is stronger evidence than one unusually successful launch.
Test Whether Customers Exist Beyond the Employer
The Travel Palace is not limited to literal travel. It also describes markets, institutions, and opportunities outside the familiar environment. For a side business, it helps ask whether strangers, public channels, or independent referrals can find the offer. A business supported only by friends and coworkers remains fragile.
Example 2: Strong authority in the Career Palace can describe someone who manages staff and company resources, but a weak independent income path means side orders may disappear after that employer's network is removed. Build a separate referral channel and win several unrelated customers before treating current revenue as personally owned demand.
Let Cash Evidence Set the Resignation Date
Before switching, check six months of net profit, collection time, customer concentration, delivery capacity, and at least twelve months of essential living reserves. Revenue that matches half a salary can still be unsafe when one client supplies most of it or every order requires large upfront costs.
Major and annual cycles can identify a better period for expansion, contracts, or a career change. They should not rescue a business model that has not been proven. Use a favorable period to build outside demand and reserves first; leave the job only when both the chart and the operating records point in the same direction.
Practical Reading Order
Start with the Body Palace, which shows where later-life effort tends to concentrate, and note whether it falls in the Wealth Palace. Read the Wealth Palace for repeatable paid expertise, then separate employer-owned authority in the Career Palace from independently earned income. Use the Travel Palace to test customers and opportunities beyond familiar networks. Apply major and annual timing only after six months of net profit, reliable collections, diverse customers, and twelve months of essential reserves are in place.
