Changing Schools: Parents Palace and Children Palace in a Family Decision

A school move involves adult decisions and a child's adjustment. Keep the chart viewpoints separate.

A parent may decide on a new school while a child has to leave friends and adapt to a new classroom. Those are two roles in one event. A single palace in the parent's chart cannot describe both.

Separate decision and experience

In a parent's chart, the Children Palace can prompt questions about investment and communication with the child. The Parents Palace may concern help from older relatives. Work and Travel Palaces can explain why the family is moving. In the child's own chart, the Life, Travel, and Parents Palaces answer different questions about adjustment and family support.

If a father relocates for work, a change in his Travel Palace can describe the cause of the school move. The child's concern may be friendships. If the child seeks an arts school, a parent's Hua Ji may describe cost anxiety, not a verdict against that choice.

Make an actual plan

Compare curriculum, travel time, admission rules, fees, and the child's wishes. After the move, watch sleep, friendships, and coursework for a reasonable adjustment period. A short-term dip is not proof of a bad fate.

Name whose chart you are reading at every step. Without reliable birth data for the child, use the parent's chart to discuss what the parent can arrange and ask the child directly about the experience.
