Friends Palace: Coworkers and Direct Reports in Zi Wei Dou Shu

Separate peer work from management duties before using the Friends Palace to discuss a team.

The Friends Palace can frame teamwork, but it does not make every coworker the same kind of relationship. Peers, direct reports, and outside contractors have different duties. Name the real role before reading stars or transformations.

Identify responsibility

Read Friends for team interaction, Siblings for peer cooperation, Career for formal duties, and Wealth for payment. A star does not grant legal authority. Check who approves leave, accepts work, and handles complaints.

Compare two teams

Two editors working as peers need a named final editor and an evidence standard for revisions. A supervisor training three interns needs review steps and escalation rules. Both work with people, but only one has formal management duties.

Draw a responsibility map

List each person's role, reporting line, signature authority, and payment relationship. If a friend is also a supervisor, separate personal help from job evaluation. Read Friends with the relevant palaces, then verify conclusions against actual duties and written decisions.
