Two job offers can arrive in the same year and point to very different futures. In Zi Wei Dou Shu, the decade cycle and annual cycle answer different parts of a career decision.
Direction before timing
The decade Career Palace asks what kind of work the person is building over several years: expertise, management, or access to a larger market. The annual Career and Travel Palaces ask what becomes actionable now, such as an interview, relocation, or contract ending. Neither layer guarantees a result.
A designer building professional reputation may see outside clients appear this year. A remote trial could test the opportunity before resignation. A manager offered a larger role may still need to calculate an income gap and family expenses if this year's Wealth Palace shows pressure.
Put the chart next to the offer
Return to natal strengths, income method, and the ability to recover from stress. List duties, probation terms, compensation, moving costs, and a fallback plan. A brief annual opening may be a bridge rather than a career direction; a good longer-term direction may need preparation before a move.
Read natal capacity, decade direction, and annual timing in that order. The final choice should rest on the actual offer and the person's priorities.
